In Memory of My Parents

My Mother’s Garden

My mother had a garden fair,
So many flowers were blooming there,
She knew, from early morning sun,
How each had fared when day was done.

I used to pause and wonder why
She loved it so, and I would try
To see the beauty in each flower
That she admired hour by hour,

Now, years have passed, and I have learned
For courage in her hopes and fears
In prayers for loved ones through the years,
Her garden wasn’t just flowers and sod,
But a living altar to her God
